Sophi Rutherford

Sophi Rutherford is a photographer, videographer and writer. Growing up on the water and adventuring in the mountains (often with a disposable Kodak film camera), she was introduced to the outdoors at a young age. This exposure allowed her to observe the changing world from behind the lens with a different kind of perspective.

From summiting 14,000ft peaks in the Eastern Sierra and shooting first ascents, to surfing, sailing and mountain biking, Sophi has found a love for capturing people in their element. From hanging on the wall shooting climbers, to standing in alpine rivers with anglers, she uses her documentary style to capture meaningful stories. She appreciates the way a photograph or short film can spark conversations between people, and connect them on an intimate level beyond words.

She can be found frequenting the local coffee shops, crags, and walking the local docks and beaches looking for sea life. With a passion for the mountains and the ocean, Sophi is most content close to the ocean or in the snowy alpine.
